San Manuel Casino Hosts Freestyle Dance Party
By Lucia Flores

On Thursday, March 17, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino was host to the Freestyle Dance Party, a night of revisiting the hits of the 1980s and 1990s with performances by Freestyle powerhouses Trinere, Lisa Lisa, and Stevie B.

Freestyle is a form of electronic dance music that contains elements of hip-hop, disco, latin, electro, and house music.

Opening up the show was Trinere, who many consider the “Queen of Freestyle.” The crowd cheered loudly as she began the show with her hit “They’re Playing Our Song.” She delighted the audience with “I’ll Be All You Ever Need,” and more chart-topping hits as many danced and sang along.

Summer Events That Are Totally Awesome! Part 1: The Offspring Concert

For a lot of people, summer is the perfect time to explore events, places, etc., because there is a bit more free time compared to the rest of the year.

Well, I took advantage of this time to go to several events that I deemed “TOTALLY AWESOME!” and I will be blogging about them over the next few weeks (or until I’m broke and can’t go anywhere :P).

For my first entry, I will highlight the TOTALLY AWESOME Offspring concert at the OC (Orange County) Fair in Costa Mesa, CA.

It all went down on July 11, 2014, when I was super excited to see The Offspring for like the fourth time. They are seriously one of my favorite bands of all time. I can connect so much with their music, especially with songs like “Gotta Get Away,” which is my all-time fave.

So after finding a parking on opening night for the fair (which was crazy because there were tons of people), I headed to the Pacific Amphitheater with my lil sister and her boyfriend to get our seats. The crowd was a multi-generational mix, which was pretty cool to see. It made me really happy.

As we sat down, The Adolescents were opening up the show. They sounded really good, and the audience was enjoying their set. After they finished, a short intermission followed. And then…it was time. (I was super pumped at this point)

The audience got up as soon as The Offspring came on stage, performing with a burst of energy to excite the crowd. They definitely did not disappoint. And they played the entirety of “SMASH,” celebrating the 20th anniversary of that album’s release.

It was wonderful! I was like totally jumping up and down and singing along to every song I knew. And the energy from the sell-out crowd was so awesome; it was a great experience. I absolutely loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to see them again 🙂
